Since 1863

Asian Hall of Fame was established by the oldest Asian family philanthropy in the United States whose legacy spans 163 years. Today, AHOF is a global platform that attracts patrons and luminaries from around the world, inspired by its lasting legacy, philanthropic purpose, and mainstream impact.

1863

First generation Chinn arrives in America to build the railroad.

1960

Third-generation Robert Chinn opens U.S. Savings & Loans in the Seattle International District. It becomes the first Asian-owned bank in America.

1986

Robert Chinn Foundation is established. It becomes the oldest Asian family philanthropy in America.

1994

Robert Chinn Foundation opens Asian Resource Center in Seattle Chinatown International District.

2004

Robert Chinn Foundation establishes AHOF as a fundraising dinner for Asian Resource Center.

2014

Robert Chinn Foundation sells Asian Resource Center. It increases private philanthropy grantmaking to charities, including AHOF.

2016

Moet Hennessy provides unsolicited, multiyear sponsorship of AHOF.

2019

Foundation appoints their first CEO, who is also appointed first AHOF President & CEO. New CEO begins to broaden mainstream recognition via cross-cultural partners. Launches four philanthropic pillars.

2020

Asian Hall of Fame becomes a nonprofit 501(c)(3).

Relocates headquarters to Glendale, CA recording studio owned by Robby Krieger of The Doors. AHOF Trauma Advocacy Program distributes 22,500 medical supplies to 77 hospitals nation-wide.

2021

Disney and Microsoft become strategic partners. AHOF Workforce Development Program expands to Wong & Fong Neurodivergent Fellows. Hosts first Induction Ceremony in Los Angeles.

2022

Anti-hate crime charity album with Grammy artists attract national and global media coverage.

AHOF receives Founders Grants from Seattle Seahawks, Gates Foundation, Robert Chinn Foundation, Wells Fargo, Ben Bridge Jeweler, Oracle, Boeing, Amazon, St. John.

2023

AHOF inducts first Native honoree. Surpasses 6.5 billion media impressions in 11 countries.

2024

AHOF makes Google “Top Trending Brands” List. Millennium Hotels & Resorts becomes Official Hotel Partner. KTLA becomes Official Media Partner. Receives first grant from Native Indian Tribe.

2025

Women Investing In Nonprofits (WIN) joins AHOF. Expands to Pasadena, Portland, Bellevue. TAO becomes Official Design Partner. MHG becomes Official US-Taiwan Partner. Philanthropic impact since 2022 exceeds $3.7 million. Surpasses 10.1 billion media impressions.

2026

Expands to Honolulu, Sunnyvale, New York City. Receives quiet campaign gift for new Pasadena/San Gabriel Valley center. Launches Mary Knell & Della Chen Legacy Film Screenings at Disney Studios.

2027

Launches Honolulu Aloha Ball scholarship fundraiser for sex trafficking survivors. Expands to Tokyo.
